about

Quiet Light Photography is the work of Minnesota photographer Chris Thorpe, focused on documenting quiet places, historic spaces, and the overlooked moments of everyday life.

Much of the work centers on small towns, older buildings, rural landscapes, and locations where time seems to move a little slower. These photographs are less about spectacle and more about atmosphere—light falling across an empty street, weathered walls, a quiet church, or the stillness of a winter morning.

The project is inspired by documentary photographers who believed ordinary places deserved attention. Quiet Light Photography follows that tradition by looking for character, history, and mood in places that people often pass without noticing.

Based in Elk River, Minnesota, Chris photographs throughout the state and surrounding areas, documenting scenes that reflect the enduring character of the Midwest.

Quiet Light Photography is about preserving moments of stillness—small pieces of time that might otherwise disappear.
